Tell me your stories, write down your secrets

Yesterday, Whitney got to LA, yay! She's visiting from Seattle, to get sewing related stuff. So she picked me up and we went on to downtown. It was great! I miss Whitney. She's crazy and hilarious. Her mom's suv had remains of slaughtered swarms of bugs all over the windshield and front of it. I wish I'd brought my camera and taken pics :P

So we hit up our favourite places:
-Ace Sewing Supply
-
Beads Factory
-Michael Levine

Ace Sewing Supply was nice, Whitney bought her first industrial sewing machine, a Juki. We all love Juki, so yay! She got a bunch of other stuff, too, feet, screws, hams, etc. They were very nice (:

Beads Factory was a nice surprise. We got in, and it was like... whoa! they've double the space, it goes all the way to the other side/street now. Crazy excitement. "I'm not gonna jump into a wall full of hooks." said Whitney when she couldn't reach some beads :P

Michael Levine was as we left it :P Whitney picked up some feathers and a couple yards of this sequined thing I'd been eyeing for months. LOL we saw this feather duster that had pretty feathers on it, and we totally talked about taking it apart for the feathers. When we found out it was $9, we considered it for a second :P

On the way back to her car, we got yogurt from Garden Berry and just walked around eating... like old times :P Then we got to the parking lot, and I said "Smells like pee here." and Whitney was like "More like, you're smelling pee here. Cause it's real." LOL... I also miss downtown sometimes.

Then we finally went into the millinery store teachers have told us to check out, California Millinery. We weren't planning on staying long, but ZOMFG. It really is like a freaking cave full of treasure! Whitney had to go back and put more coins into the meter, cause she just started to pile a bunch of stuff she found and just get them :P I got a few things to make into a headpiece, but I haven't put it together yet. Now that I've found that place, it's gonna be freaking awesome. I'll probably make headbands or something, cause those are always fun :D

After that, we started to head towards Mood, but decided it was too late, and since we were in Ktown, right by Top's, we went there to grab muslin instead. It was good to see the old couple, haha. We finally graduated :P So Joan (I think that's her name...) asked if Whitney and I worked for the same company. Whitney answers "Yeah, the UNEMPLOYED company!" LOL Whitney <3

The other day, Lena won me these vintage patterns. :D Tutoring fees FTW! I'm excited to get stuff started, but I might have to wait on having a dressform, which if fine. I'll be making drapes from those patterns, then rework them and make my own patterns. Everything will take time.

But seeing Whitney, and watching her move forward is good (: She said "[...] is scared to step out of the box, and I'm scared to step into the box." That basically sums up why we are doing what we are doing.

Sis also found an old purse I'd left in the trunk of her car. LOL. So my passport is in there, and this beaded fabric treatment I made for design class last year. I think I'll be doing lots of beading for collection. It's still sort of forming in my head. I should start drawing scratches. It'll be good times!
